Jak już oświadczyłem nie zamierzam się poddawać panującym trendom i zgłaszać do TOPłyty rzeczy, które wszyscy znają, tylko po to, żeby zmierzyć statystyki czy zrobić komuś dobrze. Nawet jeśli głosujących będzie garstka, myślę, że warto zgłaszać rzeczy nie do końca znane, bo w końcu funkcja poznawcza też jest w pewien sposób wpisana w tę grę. Podczas gdy moje wcześniejsze propozycje, choć faktycznie odstające nieco od forumowego typu mycharts, były, umówmy się, raczej przewidywalne do zastania i jednocześnie łatwe do wytypowania (bo czymże jest 9 utworów?), ta będzie prawdziwą próbą Waszej muzycznej odwagi i męstwa. Co prawda Sufjan Stevens artystą anonimowym żadną miarą nie jest, ale na forum nie zauważyłem większych (czy nawet żadnych?) śladów jego obecności, co osobiście w moim odczuciu wymaga natychmiastowych zmian

"Illinois", prawdopodobnie najlepszy album Stevensa, przez wiele opiniotwórczych mediów okrzyknięty albumem roku 2005, to ogromny i wartościowy zbiór prawdziwie dotykających historii, koncentrujących się mniej lub bardziej luźno wokół stanu Illinois.

Jak napisał Rob Sheffield z Rolling Stone: "I can't explain the state that I'm in/The state of my heart," Stevens sings, and ultimately that's the state Illinois is really about.
